Branding Pinpoint Body Piercing

Developing the brand for Pinpoint was a challenging task because generally piercing studio aesthetics are alternative looking. While the client still wanted the vibe to feel edgy, it also needed to be modern, cute and inviting. There are 15 tattoo and body piercing shops in the small town of Twin falls and they all share a similar style. I needed to come up with a brand that would stand out amongst the saturated market and speak to the clientel. Twin has a large alternative population who eagerly spend their money on body modification as well as families who bring their children in for their first ear piercing. For this project I created the logo, business cards, marketing materials, custom illustrations, merchandise and social media templates.

Brand Positioning

As this was a new company who gains most of its customers through word of mouth referrals we decided to focus on brand positioning. We needed to let people know there was a new piercing studio on the block that does things differently. They do not use a piercing gun and only use a hollow point needles which separates them from the competition. So I needed to create marketing campaigns educating people on why that matters.

Finding the Needle in the Haystack

As a result the Pinpoint brand is recognisably different from the competition. The logo is a monogram "P" that is made up of a hollow point needle and a ring piercing. This is then paired with poppy flowers to give it an ornamental and soft feel. To calm any nerves people may have about needles, the shop itself is decorated with lots of plants and flowers. So we reflected that in the brand colours and supporting floral and leaf patterns. After the launch of the brand, it was featured on the local radio station as one of the best new logos by a local company. They currently hold a 4.9 Google Review rating and are seen as a trusted company in their community.
