Rebranding Campaign
During my tenure at the company I served as the in-house Creative Director. I project managed more than 20 products, that included overseeing creative concepts for magazine layout, marketing collateral, ad operations, event promotions and the provision of creative services for all departments within the company. In 2017 the editorial board employed designer J. Ford to redesign the Flagship newspapers masthead. After the new design was approved it was my responsibility to create a brand identity system for it and a launch campaign. The main challenge was to create a look that would match the newspaper and also be versatile enough for our new digital products. To get this project accomplished in the tight timeline of 6 weeks, I oversaw a team of 11 designers and production artists.
A Fresh Face
Legacy media has an issue of seeming outdated, especially newspapers so the goal for our campaign was to show a modern bold look for the newspaper. The marketing team also really wanted to emphasise the new website and app so those were items of focus in our launch campaign.
Brand New System
As a result, we designed other instances of the logo such as social icons, vertical logos and so on. The main colours were selected by J Ford to represent the red rocks that surround the valley but we chose the secondary colour palette to use in our marketing materials. We also created a brand manual to ensure everything we designed would look consistent. In addition to this all of our current materials needed to be updated such as business cards for over 400 employees, signage, billboards, pos signs, sales sheets, powerpoint templates etc. We also needed to create the internal and external launch campaign. In the end we were able to accomplish this major overhaul on time and within budget.
