Halloween Series

October is a popular month on social media for illustrators with prompts such as #inktober. I wanted to challenge myself during this month to come up with a unique drawing series that would not only be great content for my socials but also strong enough for my portfolio. As a child I always had a fondness for classic movie monsters and loved the idea of recreating these creatures as women in modern times.

As is the experience of many creatives I know, I often put my client's marketing needs above my own and realised I had not posted regularly in a while. I have a relatively small follower count at 1,640 but enjoyed good engagement numbers in the past. However, due to my inactivity my average number of views for September were 105. This goal of this series was to get my engagement up from my followers.

I posted one drawing daily with unique captions and fitting music for the theme and as a result I saw my engagement increase. I received many personal dm's, comments and shares regarding the series. Many people posting that it was their favourite Halloween themed content. By the end of October my number of average views were 6,547.
